What is The Fourth Quarter?

One of the great mysteries of Stanford University's quarter system is the missing fourth quarter.  Our school year consists of three quarters - Fall, Winter, Spring -  followed by summer.  Yes, technically, there is a summer quarter, but it's not like the other quarters because few people are on campus and it's shorter.  To call the summer an equal fourth of the quarter system ignores the unique opportunity it provides us to explore our interests, reflect on ourselves, and try to make it in the real world.

Our blog exists for two reasons:

1) To rectify the great injustice of the dishonor to Summer "quarter," and;

2) To shine a light on aspects of our lives that you might not ordinarily see.  We want to give you a window into overlooked experiences beyond the typical school year.  These experiences are most easily found during the summer, though our blog includes other adventures, like studying abroad.
